GIFT CARDS

I have been meaning to design and make some cards ages and ages ago, I finally got round to getting a couple done. I had the idea for Gift cards about 2 years ago and just never really got going with it!

The Teacher card features a ladybird bookmark as the gift and I like the simplicity of it.

My Daughter is mad about Converse shoes just now and she inspired this Birthday card with the little Converse Keyring as the gift.

I am really pleased with the results and hope to have more designs very soon :-))

Comic Relief

After last night's episode of Famous, Rich and in the Slums I have decided to make a special album on my Facebook page Where you can buy the item and I will donate all the proceeds minus postage to Comic Relief.

Hopefully those who would like to make a donation will see something they might like and know that apart from giving to fantastic cause, they will get something in return so doubling the feel good factor!

Uk Twilight Competition

As Most of you are aware, I am totally addicted to Twilight and have been making Twilight inspires Jewellery for a fair while. I have now joined forces with UK Twilight to offer these latest offerings in their latest competition!

Breaking Dawn is the 4th and Final book in the series and is being filmed from this November, though due to it's size, it is in 2 parts!

Craft Robo

I had considered getting a Craft Robo ages ago and decided to get a big shot instead, which I do actually love, but feel limited to by the available dies!
As one of the main dealers of the Craft Robo - MDP Supplies is local to me, I decided to go and take a look at one in action!
I must say I was sold pretty much straight away!! I am so happy with my 1st results!

This was the 1st card cutting that I did. It took a while to get used to the settings and things, but I am really pleased with the results!
This was an idea I had at the back of my mind for a while, but I needed the cat shape!
I have done the Twilight one in vinyl and it just need transfering to any smooth surface, but i have yet to decided where I will use it!!
And probably best of all, Clothing vinyl, which makes the possibilties endless!! :-))
I still have lots to learn about using the Robo, but I guess I will have fun trying!!
Anyone else use one??

Summer Flower Hair clips

Well the sun has been shining and it has inspired me to actually use the felt and my big shot, that was originally bought for this purpose!!I am making a load of flowers for various uses and these were the ones I used on snap hair clips.

I also made a couple of barrette style hair flowers and I have also added some to party bags!
Hopefully will make lots more if they prove to be popular!!

Another blog post from me and another animal one!!
I have seen it all now......This Squirrel was sunbathing on our back fence!!!

Minstrel (Super Bunny) had been scared (not so Super) by him earlier on!

What a way to relax!! I have never seen a squirrel so relaxed and he let me get fairly close to get a photo too!!

Super Bunny has been a bit naughty lately and had me chasing him round the garden to get him in, earlier on!!
As you can see, now that the sun is shining, he is enjoying a little break and a sunbathe!!

Life is tough being Super Bunny and when the sun is shining, there is nothing better than recharging the batteries!!
Sorry, for the lack of updates from Super Bunny, but will try and add some adventures at some point!! :-)

Polymer Clay Makes

Here I have been busy with the Polymer clay that I have not used in ages!!!

This set also has matching earrings, that were not quite ready when I took the picture!

I had a fabulous couple of days in London, where I met up with a couple of girls, Kerry and Kaci, who are huge Rob fans like me!
We got to Leicester Square at around 8.30am and it was pretty much normal with a few barriers for the fans to wait and the crews building lighting stands etc.
There was around 50 people already there and some claimed to have been there from the day before.

The atmosphere was incredibly friendly and we chatted with some of the security people and TV people.
The day didn't drag at all and we people watched and laughed and laughed!
We watched whilst they added the signs and then at 5pm they closed off the front of the pictures and started to lay the red carpet!!

I am at the end of this photo with my present balanced on my copy of Details Magazine!

My Gift for Rob!

I had gone with these as a little gift for him, not knowing if I would get a chance to give him them, but after what seemed like forever and a few near misses, he eventually was led in our direction. He was making his way up the line and I could see he was a bit overwelmed with the crowds, so I said "Relax, enjoy it and don't forget to breathe" and he gave one of his sideways smiles! I then said "I have a present for you" and He said "really". He then came over to take it and his security were looking over at me when I asked if he would give Emilie (de Ravin) hers too. He put my cufflinks in his pocket and started to sign the box that was for Emilie! Then he said "Oh that's Emilies!" He signed my details magazine and then had a photo with the girl next to me.
I was soo close I could not resist leaning to have a sniff!!
He smelt like heaven!
As he came back I said "Rob, I just want to say Thank You, you have made an old gal very happy" and he gave a quick smile and was off!!

I have to say he was just as good looking in the flesh if not better and that he was very genuine and lovely!

Tom Felton from Harry Potter was another of the stars who was very genuine and friendly and came over to give autographs.

Holly Valence was another who acknowledged the crowd and after I had shouted "love the shoes Holl" Gave us a peace sign and a smile!

I have a memento of my own too, a large Remember Me sign that was on the railings!!

Still smiling today and very pleased that I went!

I am a huge Twilight Fan!!!
It has been since last December after reading all the 4 books within a week!!
Stephanie Meyer just pulled me right in!! I have re-read them several times!! I feel like I am 17 again!!

Today saw the release of the Trailer for Eclipse which is the third in the series!!

I decided to make some Jewellery that was inspired by Twilight and I must say it has been very popular!!

The Bracelet is Turquoise and the Ring is Moonstone!

A Card for My Mum

Can you imagine not being able to see?? I need glasses to see in the distance and I struggle a bit with that!!! As an arts and crafts person, I would not like to think what it would be like to lose my sight!

Cabochon Bangles

I have been working with Cabochons, due to my lack of firing......it's too cold to go outside to my studio!!
I have also been buying some blanks and cabs and decided to make a few bangles and see how things go!
This is a sample of some of the ones I have done so far and they are listed on Folksy in my shop.
There are Abalone Shell, Turquoise, Tigers eye and Amazonite Gemstones and Millefiori Cabachons with different settings!

The Little Big Shop

You may have noticed the new blog button at the side with the little big shop!
Well I have decided to hop on board this exciting new venture that will hopefully provide some escape from Ebay!!

I am currently trying out a shop based on the supplies that I sell via all my other outlets but have put them all in one basket for a change!!

I will be adding lots more soon hopefully and trying to cover more than just jewellery findings. I would like to create a supply shop that will suit lots of different crafts, but also ignite the imagination of those who like to try new mediums!!

As an avid crafts person who is always up for a new challenge, I thought I would just go for it!!

What do you all think ? Worth a shot as there are no listing or joining fees and just 10% final value which you can see as you list.

A couple of Sock Friends

I made a couple of sock friends today. The first one was a sock monster called "Freddie" who loves to party with his mates (see below)
This sock friend was made especially for my DD as she came home with this pair of socks and asked for a friend. She has named her Monkey "Cosy" as it is extra snuggly!

They decided to hang out and watch the world go by before my old shelf gets sold on Ebay!!!

Hoping to add a few more to my shop soon!!

A Busy Day

After waiting in all day for this to arrive, it has taken me about 3 hours to get it built!!
I saw this in a local shop, all made, but it was in Walnut and a bit tatty!! I did a search and found
it on addtions direct and I promptly ordered this one and a bigger one! This one has arrived but the bigger one is not coming until a later date!
It has a runner and a front shelf and a back shelf and I am trying to get my house sorted out and have some sort of filing system.

Making the bigger one is going to fun......NOT!!!

I also made these Birthday invitations for my Mum's 70th Birthday in January. She is sending them out with her Christmas cards and wanted them done quite early!

Hope she likes them!!

Need to make some commission work for glass hanging decorations and also some sock aliens that have been requested!!

Well I finally got round to buying a big shot machine as I have been wanting something to cut fabric for ages! I went and got the daisies die cutter today!
Here are the results of my first effort. They are a combination of felt and material and all have a button centre.

Look at all these fantastic goodies from Gemma from Crafteroo and Incy wincy stitches Button Jewellery Swap!

I got the most fantastic ropework of buttons and beadlings and as you can see the licorice was started on straight away!!! I also got some green velvet ribbon and some seed beads and some spare buttons!!

New Website Launched

I am over the moon with my new website, though I still have lots of work to do with it! I am soo happy with my artwork from the very wonderful and ooober talented Laura aka Glueandglitter
She has done wonders yet again for me and I totally recommend if you want a logo then go to Laura!!

I have decided against having the website as the shop and to use it for information purposes but with a link through to my new Coriandr shop
I chose Coriandr as my main shop as I feel that the layout is the easiest of all the handmade sites and it takes hardly anytime to upload. Also you can now use old listings as templates, so if items have similarities and postal prices you don't have to input all the details again!!

Anyway, hopefully will be adding lots of new items over the next couple of weeks!! and please do comment on what you think.

Here we have my daughter's flower picture that has been fabulously transformed into a cushion by the rather talented Heidi from Extra Special Touch
Hayley was delighted with the way her picture was used and is thrilled to have one her designs used in this way. She has ambitions to be a designer when she is older too!

Monkey Bags and new Monkey!!

Keeping on my monkey theme, I decided I needed a few more things to add to the "range", which is still nameless as I really am hopeless at making up my mind!!

Here we have a couple of Monkey faces that are hand sewn beads!!

And Here we have a friend for the Lanky pink streak Monkey!

I have still to add a few finishing touches to this one!
Just so you know, I am at the Craft Art and Food Fair at Floral Pavillion in New Brighton on 3/10/09 and 7/11/09 and will be organising a Christmas Craft event myself on 5/12/09 and 6/12/09 at Birkenhead Park pavillion gallery!!

I have a few more ideas of things I may create with this theme, but do let me know if you think there is something that may work, or just to say what you think of these so far!!

Monkey Business - Giveaway

I am after some help as I am about to set up an online shop for my Sock Monkey Business and have been rattling round a few ideas for names. It is difficult to try and get original names that are not already in use in one form or another!
I have decided to run a giveaway for whoever comes up with the best name and the one that I will actually use!!

The Giveaway will include a selection of prizes, that includes Jewellery and other goodies!
The name I am after needs to incorporate other sock creatures as I will be having a go at some other styles!!
If I use another name I will put entries into a hat to decide a winner for the giveaway!!
Entries need to be in by Sunday 16th August and I will annouce the Winner on Monday 17th!!

This is my latest creation!! She is a Lanky Pink Streak Monkey and is very rare in the UK!!

Fabric Bags

I went shopping with my daughter yesterday and was passing a fabric shop and this just jumped out at me!!
I got some bags from Vonnie - Blottedcopybook and I also bought some smaller ones for my monkeys and thought I needed to decorate some.
Did these this morning by sewing the peices to neaten then up and then glued them into place and then stitched then inside to make sure they stay put!!

Not sure if they need more embelishments like the flowers on the little one??

Table Centre Piece

I was having a chat with my Dad about Craft Fairs and he came up with a suggestion of having an unusual object as my table centre piece.
I was not really sure what I could use and then the other day I saw this at a car boot sale and although it was not exacty as you see it now, I just envisaged it sat on my table.

I had an enquiry from a customer for some bronze cufflinks a while ago and I could not find any, but did try out some bronze spray paint and although it was pretty useless on the cufflinks, it has brought this clock up a treat!

It was quite dark when I bought it and covered in dust, but a bit of a clean and a spray or 2 of bronze paint..........well you tell me!!!

I am happy with it anyway and the clock works perfectly!

Joined Coriandr

Just joined Coriandr today and I really must say that I am very impressed with the ease at which you set up the page and get listing!!!

Added this as I finally figured out how to make it a wall hanging using wire!

I had a bit of a disappointing weekend at the Wirral Show as the turn out was not as good as previous years, but my sock monkeys went down really well!

I am going to be at the Port Sunlight Village Festival this Sunday, though the weather forecast is not tooo promising!

Fimo Creations

I bought some of these polymer clay canes a while ago and decided to have a try with it today.
Here is the cabochon I made.
Inspired by this, I decided to get my Fimo out and have a play and I made these 2 bracelets and was really pleased with the results!

I did make a couple of rings also, but they are not dry as yet.

I am nearly ready for the Wirral Show this weekend. Just got my Monkeys to get sorted out!!

Fingerprint Jewellery

I was recently asked to make some fingerprint cufflinks for a customer and found out they are actually quite popular!

Below is the original cufflinks with the prints having been posted to me!!

The customer was over the moon with them and was quite pleased when I asked if it was ok to use her pictures for examples!

I then decided to have a go at a few variations and have created my own to wear myself!!

These were black paper with silver ink!

I have listed them on Artfire and also my website has the cufflinks so far!!

I will be listing some variations soon, such as family prints and charms!!

Glass Tile Coasters

Apart from the Sock monkeys and other stuff, I have been fusing some blank coaster tiles to make these!!

I am hoping to make a fair few sets...............again for the Wirral Show!!

These are foam backed and are fab as either coasters or just for decoration.

They have a fair few bubbles in the glass, but I feel for these that just adds to them!!

I am going to try a suggestion made by Gloria from Dichro-Findings , which involves a bubble squeeze program for the glass when it is fusing!!

I will hopefully get that sorted in a few days!!

Sock Monkey Mania

I have not been about much lately as I have been too busy with various events and making Eyefund Jewellery and these Sock Monkeys.

I did a couple of fairs and found that they were extremely popular and I am now trying to make as many as possible for the Wirral Show in july as i have a spot in the craft tent, but due to there being enough jewellery stands, I had to have something different!

Fingers crossed they will be a hit as some of the money from them will be going to Claire House Children's Hospice.

Latest Offering....

Ok, Until last week I had not actually touched a sewing machine despite going to a sewing class for a few weeks!!

I managed to create some more sock monkeys using it and then thought I would have a go at a bag!!

I also had never made a Yo Yo and made this to embellish the bag.

I really am pleased with the end result, despite the wonky stitching and I have also realised a couple of other errors, but hey I am learning!!

I am hoping to manage a few more bits and pieces as I need to develop these skills quickly as I have some fairs booked that require fabric work!!

Any tips on easy to make items would be most welcome!

The Eye Fund

What is the Eye Fund?
Can you imagine not being able to see?? I need glasses to see in the distance and I struggle a bit with that!!! As an arts and crafts person, I would not like to think what it would be like to lose my sight!
The Eye Fund aims to provide much needed counselling and aid to those who are losing their sight due to degenerative diseases.
All the pictures you see in these items of Jewellery were designed by Simon Sherry, who you can read about on the Eye Fund website - Here

Button Galore!!!

After making this 1st Bracelet, I went off to some local Charity shops in the search for more Buttons and I ended buying in the region of 10,000!!!

Thought I must get work with them and made this rather sunny one, which I must say, I am very pleased with!!

Have used about 40 buttons for this one, so not sure what I going to do with the other 9,960!!!

More to come I would imagine!! These 2 are available to purchase at my MISI shop.

Flower Fairies Cards

I had one of those awful days that you spend waiting for things that don't turn up!!

It is now the second day wasted waiting for my grinder and bandsaw!!

I hate DHL!!

On a plus side I did make these today, which as the non card maker in the family, I am quite proud of.

I found it quite relaxing too, which is just what I needed!!

Here we have an easter basket made by my fabulously creative Daughter.

She made this for her Granny who came round for Easter Dinner.

Here is Samantha the Sock Monkey modelling my Red Nose!! She was far more attractive than me and I thought she was rather adorable in it!!

A couple of these are not perfect, but I am happy with the technique!

The largest one has bubbles trapped uder the wings, which my kids think makes it look better!!

Hoping to have a bit of a play with mixing Glass and the Resin!!

Latest Designs

My 1st Picture is of these Large Paisley Design Fabric and Glass Coasters.

These are 4 inches square. I needed to make them waterproof at the back and decided to use Evirotex Lite coating, which is an epoxy resin that dries as clear as glass and has a lovely sheen!!

I also had some Beautiful Butterfly fabric and decided to make these Decorative Tiles, that could also be used as Coasters, though these are a bit smaller - 3 inches square.

I have actually made a few more, but have yet to get them completely cleaned up. I nearly chopped my finger off with my stanley knife this morning!!
This last Picture is the reverse side that has been coated with resin!

I am really pleased with the results and hope to have them for sale in my Folksy shop soon.

Crafteroo Does Comic Relief on Folksy

The fabulous people over at Crafteroo have been busy making lots of lovely items for their Comic Relief Shop on Folksy!

It was the brainchild of Kerry from Pennydog Jewellery and is already making lots of lolly for Comic Relief!

I fell in love instantly with Samantha the Sock Monkey which was kindly donated to the shop by LilyLola and there are more of her creations in her own shop too!!

After her inspiration I realised that I had some Monkey fabric and made these to donate too!!

Fingers crossed the site will make lots and lots of money for a great cause!!

I have been working on my new glass pendants and have

Picture Tile Pendants

Here is a New item I have been working on this week. I was asked by the lovely Jill of Autumn Jewels for some tile blanks and I thought I would see what I could do with them too!!!

My 1st Bag!!!

Happy New Year to you all!!
My first post of 2009 sees a new creation for me. I had some wool that was purchased at an Attic sale before Christmas. It was a bag of odds and ends and I found a lovely purple Chenille plush wool.
I was in mind to knit a scarf for my daughter and decided to go for it.
I got soo far then realised that as there was only about 1 and a half balls and I had gone a bit wide........................what to do???

Well this was what I came up with!!

I may well change the Butterfly button as it is a tad small!!!

The bag looks Blue here, but is actually a really deep gothic purple!!

I have used an old cream jumper as a liner and it makes it even squishier!!

Ok I had a dig around and found this Vintage Ceramic Brooch instead of the butterfly!!

I think it looks much better now. Do you???

All in all I am quite pleased with my scarf, Ooops I mean Bag!!!

Secret Santa Goodies

These were my gorgeous goodies from Secret Santa swap on Crafteroo They were made by Hannah aka span1 You can read her blog to see how she created them. She knew I loved rabbits and this little stitched bunny is just fabulous!! My kids have been enjoying the candy canes and my scarf has come in handy now the weather has changed!!!

I made a Millefiori dish for Pennydog and a pendant and a ring that was for her birthday just before Christmas.

I also took part in a Secret Santa organised by Uk Craft Forum and I was given these lovely goodies from Mummycupcake. I now am determined to learn how to crochet!!

Another Millefiori Necklace

This one I have just finished and was going to add it to the other, but for reason, I can't, so I thought I would just add to it anyway!!!

The pendant is clear glass with millefiori pieces and the necklace has square millefiori beads.

I can see quite a few of these coming up on my website and folksy etc I just love them.

I am going to be adding rings and bracelets too.

Dichroic Millefiori Necklace

Here is my latest design. I have fallen in love with Millefiori glass in all shapes and forms.

I have made several Pendants, some with Dichroic Glass and some with just the Millefiori pieces.

I wanted to make some necklaces, so I ordered some beads and have made this and am in the middle of making some others.

Abstraxx vases

I was contacted by a very talented gentleman called Terry Hooley who is a sculptor of mainly wooden items. He wanted some of my glass to use in his pieces.

These are his creations. The lighter one is made from Cherry wood and the second is made from burr elm.

I am looking forward to making more pieces for his work and he may be able to help me with some wooden items to help me display some of my art glass work.

Another glass fan sculpture

This is a piece I have recently made using the same sort of technique as the other fan sculpture.

I love the colours in this piece and the sheen and sparkle from some of them.

Again this would look great in a sunny window on a crisp winter morning!

I am not sure whether to keep it for myself!

Please let me know what you think of these types of sculpture ornaments as I am thinking of making them as my speciality.

I have taken some time away as I had computer problems and then the kids were off school for half term. We went to Camelot and spent a night in the hotel there. It was good, but soo soo cold!!

Millefiori Dish

Ok This week I have been over the moon to find Millefiori pieces that are compatible with my other glass. I decided to create this 11.5cm x11.5cm decorative dish.

The Base is a dark Purple and I have used a mixture of red and lime green Millefiori pieces!

Also this week, I got a commission for some peices to be used within wood! I can't wait to the finished results!

Sorry about the lack of blog last week. I have been updating my website and this item is available to purchase!

Toffee Treasure

Ok You may have now guessed that I am updating my Blog every Monday! Be sure to pop in to see what my favourite creation of the week has been!!

This week it is this necklace, with fused glass pendant. I have called it Toffee Treasure as it has that toffee colour to it and looks good enough to eat!! (well, I thought so anyway!).

I found some beads of a similar colour and decided to make this with the necklace included.

The chain is approx 20" long and the pendant is 2" long.

The chain took me a fair few hours to string together, but I feel the overall effect looks fairly good.

I may well add this to my folksy shop as I have one there already called Toffee Melt.

So that was my favourite from the week.

A Sculpture of sorts!!!

I had a bit of a disaster with this one at first as I had tack fused the rods and they were quite weak, so when I tried to glue to the base, I accidently let it fall and it broke!! BOO HOO

(lost the pic)Above is how it looked to begin with.............. I was very sad that I broke it, but I had one bar left over, so I added that to give it some strength and now, although I prefer the 1st one, it is finished.

I think it would look very good with the sun shining through it!

Hi All,
I am new to Blogging and am hoping to add to this as often as I can.
Those of you who already know me from the Crafteroo forum know the type of work I am doing.
I am generally making genuine Dichroic glass pendants and gift items.

I am also working on hosting Jewellery parties and commissions are also taken.
I am working on various projects and will post some pictures of new work when I have completed them.
